CAM Weekend Listings
Stephanie Burke here, Managing Editor of this fair magazine, head honcho of Art Talk Chicago, Bad at Sports contributor, and self-same author of The Gallery Crawl and So Much More. Again, I bring you the beauty of the CAM Weekend Picks.
This weekend there are lots and lots of openings, most of which are centered on River North. That is not, however, where this weekly pick is focused. Instead, I call this pick: Ce n’est pas une galerie commerciale. Assigning a title to a non-commercial gallery is tricky business, with “alternative space” being slightly out dated and disliked by many, “non-profit” debatable for those who forget to file the paperwork, and “apartment gallery” a little dangerous, lest Daley’s stooges come shut you down for operating without a business license. So I propose a new name for these spaces: Ce n’est pas une galerie commerciale. Thanks, Magritte! So I give you, my selection of:
