Dak Art 2: Contemporary Art from Senegal, West Africa

This Friday, June 24th, Gallery Guichard Fine Art Gallery will hold its public opening for I Am My Brother’s Keeper, the second Dak Art exhibition featuring the work of over fifty contemporary artists from Senegal, West Africa. Amadou Thiam, the antique African Art dealer and gallerist of Senegalese art, is largely responsible for the exhibition, which will run through July 31st, 2011.

The opening will last from 6:00-11:00pm.
Admission is free and complimentary parking will be available.

In addition to the opening, an artist talk and lecture by Omar Samb, the minister of arts and tourism from Senegal, will take place 3:00-4:30pm, Thursday, June 23rd, in the Kemper Gallery at the Illinois Institute of Technology, 35 West 33rd St.
