Abstract artist Kim Piotrowski exhibits her newest paintings Beds and Guns at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago from Oct. 17 – Jan. 30, 2011.
Practicing for over 20 years the content of her recent work stems from iconic images such as guns and beds. By using experimental materials and working on synthetic paper, Piotrowski has produced a body of work that melds painting to drawing while simultaneously evoking an emotional and physical response to this contemporary content.
Among her awards are the 2008 Artadia Chicago Artist Grant, 2002 Illinois Visual Artist Grants and the 1997 Elizabeth Foundation Artist Grant, NYC. She has also been an artist in Residence at Ragdale, IL, Oxbow, MI and the EFA Studio Program in New York and received her BFA in 1988 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
