Artists and art enthusiasts alike are gearing up for the ninth annual Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival, which takes place on Saturday, July 17 and Sunday, July 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the main drive of Buffalo Grove Town Center. Currently rated as one of the top 50 art festivals in the country, the Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival hosts more than 160 juried artists from around the globe in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, sculpture, mixed media, paintings, drawings, photography, wood and furniture. An impressive selection of Judaica is also available at the festival.
In addition to the extraordinary artwork offered by the juried artists exhibiting throughout the weekend, the festival will once again host a Youth Art Division, showcasing the work of local artists ages eighteen and under. “We are thrilled to once again host these talented young artists,” says Amy Amdur, founder of her namesake firm. “Participating in a festival teaches youth about running a business, working towards a goal and also provides the opportunity to discover or strengthen a passion for creating artwork.” This year, Amdur Productions also welcomes “Unique Expressions: A Showcase of Local Artists with Special Needs,”
While the artwork serves as the focal point of the festival, the Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival offers much more! Throughout the weekend, festival goers will enjoy live performances from the Buffalo Grove Limelight Café Youth, the Buffalo Grove Jazz Band, guitarist Mark Adamczyk, French singer-songwriter Michelet Innocent and Chicago’s favorite acoustic rock duo Cirrus Falcon.
Several activities just for kids also take place throughout the weekend Young festival goers are encouraged to visit the Kids Art Tent to create an edible necklace or paint a birdhouse. Balloon artist, Jason Giolli will also be on-hand to offer tips on how to make a balloon creation. Children will also have the opportunity to paint an Art Wall and the festival and receive an official “Art Explorer” sticker.
The Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival takes place on Saturday, July 17 And Sunday, July 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The festival is located at the Buffalo Grove Town Center at the corner of Lake Cook Road and Route 83 (McHenry Road) in Buffalo Grove. Admission and parking is FREE! More than 1,000 free parking spaces are available to the public in the Buffalo Grove Town Center lots adjacent to the festival.
